New Orleans pt deux!!!
Oh New Orleans! We meet again! The Norwegians wanted to re-visit New Orleans to actually experience the food/culture without Mardi Gras crazies, so I decided to tag along! I was a bit hesitant to leave because I felt like there was so little time left before Mississippi training was over (we only have two weekends left! Boy does time fly by!), but I am very glad I went. The first night we left a bit late and arrived into NOLA just in time for dinner. Plans tonight were EAT and Bourbon! We had a very nice dinner at Red Fish Restaurant. The gumbo was to die for! We all headed out to Bourbon St. We really enjoyed Bourbon Cowboy, Sing Sing, and Beach on Bourbon the last time we came, so that is exactly where we went to. Stayed out until about 5-6AM… but it was definitely a great night!
Saturday morning, we actually explored the city during the day. It is just as crowded and crazy during the daytime as it is at night. We were starving so we met up half the group up at the Steamboat Natchez boat tour. I don’t know who’s idea it was to ride this boat, but we all got on there and had a buffet brunch. Cajun food! Yummy! It was really nice listening to the cute old man band while enjoying brunch. It was a bit chilly outside, but nothing a Coffee Baileys can solve! When the sun came out, it was a really great boat ride. Afterwards, we just explored the city a bit. I actually got to finally see the famous square and the church, see some French Quarter architecture, listen to live music along the street, eat beignets at Café du Monde, look at the local art, drink green grenades, eat good Cajun food, and day drinking walking around the city.
At night, we somehow ended at the Harrod’s Buffet…. I always eat too much at the buffet since I get so greedy… oops! The buffet was surprisingly good. Afterwards, we headed to a different part of New Orleans to a happening new “hot spot” for young professionals… the place was alright so we all ended up at Bourbon again at our three favorite places. It was a great night filled with really cheap drinks (especially compared to drinks during Mardi Gras), dancing, and meeting new random people. Me and Camilla went into the strangest cab ride ever 30 minutes outside the city since the taxi driver got lost… We were in some shady area, but good thing I had my Anti Social Device (iPhone) to show me where we were… or we probably would have been outside Louisiana somewhere… haha Thankfully we were able to get back safely.
Overall, the trip was a good fun weekend getaway. It is always a good time with good company. I am exhausted from not enough sleep and playing too hard… so I am going to sleep. Good night world!
