That's dat shit I don't like

That's dat shit I don't like

I am sitting here at IAH, Gate A30, thinking "man.. I really hate IAH." I know 'hate' is a strong word, and maybe a bit over dramatic on how I feel… but seriously… I hate IAH. All the experiences I have had with IAH has been horrible. It's not the people who work here that make it horrible; the people who work here are courteous, kind, and very helpful. It's the way IAH is set up and the flow of how people go from Point A to Point B. Whoever the civil engineer & architect made Houston's airport did not think this through properly… There are massive long lines, you have to take from train to train to train, changing different terminals, go through ridiculous long lines for immigration… This whole time after the three flights (going across the damn world) I took prior to IAH, I am just thinking… "ERMAHGAWD. WHY?! WHYYY!?!??!" It may be airport delirium from being in airports for so long. It may be me taking my irritation out on IAH, but for some reason.. especially when I have a lot of stuff, I always end up having to go from one terminal to the furthest possible terminal and then on top of that, the furthest gate in that terminal (i.e. going from Terminal D to Terminal A to gate 30… literally the LAST gate in Terminal A). I don't know why it still shocks me when I am headed to my next flight, turn the corner, and its huge hallways after another hallway after another hallway… because honestly, it always happens.

I guess it is partly my fault for always packing more on the heavy side… You would think that after all these flights, I would learn… I honestly tried to pack light… I only brought one back pack and my little purse this time because of the horrible experience I had with my carry on luggage on the way to Brunei. But I guess I did not intend to shop so much in Singapore (oops??).

But do you know what airport I hate even more than IAH Houston?… DME Moscow… I had a transit within DME Moscow going from Singapore to Houston, but the way the airport is set up is so inefficient!! There's not even a proper place to stand in line, so everyone is just in a mass of people.

There was one man who was calling people out for "cutting" the line, but there wasn't even a line!! I believe that people should not cut, especially when people are waiting a long time, but honestly dude… there's no fucking line, no need to be rude and call people out.

I seriously had to wait in these mass people "lines" four times at DME (almost missing my next flight) because there is no organization and no where TO stand in line. Not only that, the terminal gates are right in front of major pathways i.e. in front of escalators, right next to bathrooms, in front of elevator pathways… while I was standing in "line" I was bumped into the whole time as people who are trying to just walk off the escalator are weaving in and out…. so not only does the airport SUCK, the people are RUDE. SO RUDE. I felt so bad for this family with two boys in front of me because they were getting trampled by the people who were walking through to get onto the elevator and escalator. I tried to buy some Russian vodka for Huyen since she likes vodka, but with the customs there, they don't bag up anything like airports usually do in Duty Free… Not really duty free then, huh?…. haha

Okay… maybe I'm just bitching, but even though i don't like these airports, I know I will just have to accept them for what they are and make the best of my time while traveling within these major airports. As I was flying into Moscow, it was a winter wonderland out… it was so beautiful and the air was crisp (freezing!). I now understand why people in Russia always wear fur and long coats… But Moscow during the winter time is breathtaking and I really hope to come back to see the city. And for me to do that, I will have to endure the rude people and the mass people gathering they call "standing in line."

IAH Houston Airport.. idk not really a place I would want to come to…. haha just kidding. Next time I'll just bring some damn rollerblades or a freaking golf cart with me so I can get from point A to point B using my own route… or maybe I'll jus think really, really hard and transport there…. hehe yeah right, I wish.
