Indian food... when will I ever learn?! + Gadong Night Market!

Indian food... when will I ever learn?! + Gadong Night Market!

On Thursday, we decided to go to Tandoor, a very quaint, Class C Hygienic rated, no A/C, hole in the wall, 10 table Indian place. I heard that it was good from many people, so we decided to go try it for lunch.  I had the Chicken Tikka Masala with garlic Naan. The verdict... surprisingly very, VERY good! I really enjoyed my lunch. It was spicy, creamy, buttery, and lip smacking good. The naan was like heaven in my mouth because it was freshly baked, warm, and soft. I almost ate all the naan and chicken... but... it was a really good thing I didn't. After work, Pao, was having a headache from the food, and I thought, "hmm... I feel fine!" and definitely thought I would go back. But honestly, I spoke too soon. Later that evening I went to hang out with Suresh, Kamanish, and Dean at their staff house, but when I got home, my belly felt like it was going to explode. It was churning and bubbling... I did not feel good. I stayed up to about 2-3AM because I felt so sick and I couldn't go to the toilet/fart it out... so I felt even worse because It was bubbling up and building up inside of me.

Every time I go eat Indian food... no matter where it is in the world, (I had North Indian food in London, Indian food in Dallas, Indian food TWICE in Berlin) I ALWAYS GET SICK. WHY INDIAN FOOD, DO YOU HATE ME?!?! So all day today I have been suffering with a stomach bug... haven't really been able to eat all day and I even missed out on work today because I felt disgusting inside. :-( When will I ever learn?!?!?!

But after Goh got back from work, we went to Bandar for the night market! It was called Gadong Palam (spelling?) and was very interesting! People walking around everywhere, BBQ smoke encapsulating your whole body, people selling $1 rice, all sorts of fried parts of chicken, fresh tropical drinks, local fruits and veggies, and even clothes/tapestries! It was quite dirty, but I just took in the environment. Goh walked me around to all the stalls that he knew was good. After walking around for about 30-40 minutes, I spent $5 on rice, fried chicken drumstrick, two BBQ grilled chicken wings, BBQ chicken ass on a stick, fresh young coconut juice, and this fried pastry called Komait (spelling again?). Everything was good! Apparently chicken ass on a stick is a very popular dish at the night markets... it sounds revolting, but I wanted to try it since everyone said it was good. It was... interesting and pretty good! It was probably not the best thing to eat after suffering from a stomach bug all day... But I didn't want to miss out the opportunity to try it. We took all our food back to the cafeteria inside the mall called The Mall (haha!). We opened all of our food out and I tried everything. I was starving, since it was about 9:30PM-10PM and WAY past my dinner time. I think my favorite was the fresh young coconut juice and the BBQed chicken wings, even though one of my wings was still very pink on the inside...

After we finished our food, me and Goh went to watch Wreck It Ralph (it JUST came out, here in Brunei... American movies come out so slowly in Brunei!). I really enjoyed the movie. It was so cute and it took me back to the good old fashion video games! After a long drive back telling Goh about all my farting and pooping stories (why do I talk about poop and fart so much?!), we finally got home. It is about 3AM now, so I must go to sleep! I have a busy day tomorrow! Will update you guys about that later! BYE!
